WASHINGTON, DC, December 20, 2022—Grantmakers In Health (GIH) is pleased to announce the election of five new members to its Board of Directors:

Melinda Abrams, Executive Vice President for Programs, The Commonwealth Fund

Tiffany Donelson, President and CEO, Connecticut Health Foundation

Britta Guerrero, CEO, Sacramento Native American Health Center
Avenel Joseph, Vice President, Policy, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation
Elizabeth Myung Sook Krause, Program Director, Perigee Foundation

“We are thrilled to welcome Melinda, Tiffany, Britta, Avenel, and Elizabeth to GIH’s Board of Directors,” said Cara V. James, President and CEO of Grantmakers In Health. “Their diverse backgrounds and expertise will be invaluable as we work to improve the health and well-being of communities across the country. We look forward to their contributions and leadership as we continue to advance our mission.”

Three of the incoming board members—Abrams, Donelson, and Krause—are alumni of GIH’s Terrance Keenan Institute for Emerging Leaders in Philanthropy, a professional leadership development fellowship program for health philanthropy’s next generation leaders.

Board members serve three-year terms, with the possibility of renewal for a second consecutive term.  Members represent the diversity of the field across a variety of dimensions, including gender, geographic location, life experience, organization size and type, professional skills, and race and ethnicity.
