Nominations Due Friday, September 12, 2025
Grantmakers In Health (GIH) is seeking nominations for a few positions on its board of directors for terms beginning in March 2026. Self-nominations are welcome.
GIH is committed to better health for all through better philanthropy and is seeking candidates who align with this vision and are committed to advancing health equity. Ideal candidates represent the diversity of health philanthropy across a variety of personal and professional dimensions, including demographics, life experience, professional skills, geographic location, organization size and assets, and type of health funder.
We welcome all applications and this year the board is prioritizing candidates with legal expertise and communications/marketing skills. The board is also seeking candidates from the South, Midwest, and Mountain regions and from small and medium sized foundations.
Qualified candidates must be:
- committed to furthering the mission and vision of GIH;
- an active member of the board or staff of a U.S. grantmaking organization in health philanthropy, or an individual from health or another social sector who can make a valuable contribution to GIH’s work; and
- over the age of 18.
Terms are for three years, with the possibility of renewal for a second term. There are four board meetings annually – three in-person and one virtual. Regular attendance at meetings and committee service are expected.
Nomination Process
All nominators must complete a nomination form. In the form, nominators will be asked to upload a letter in support of their nominee, which presents their defining characteristics, summarizes their contribution to health philanthropy, and describes why the nominee would be a good addition to the GIH board. Self-nominators will be asked to include contact information of one reference. All information is due by Friday, September 12, 2025.
Once a nomination has been received, nominees will be asked to submit the following via an online portal:
- answers to nomination questions
- a resume, and
- a letter of interest addressing questions provided in the portal.
Begin the process by completing a nomination form no later than Friday, September 12, 2025.
The full board will consider nominations at its November 2025 meeting. Nominees will be notified about the status of their applications in December.
