Grantmakers In Health (GIH) is pleased to announce that William Buster, Antony Chiang, Jill Nowak, and Patrick Simpson have been elected to its board of directors. Their three-year terms begin in March 2020.
William Buster is Executive Vice President of Community Investments at St. David’s Foundation, which invests in Central Texas counties Bastrop, Caldwell, Hays, Travis, and Williamson to solve the most pressing health challenges across the community, especially for underserved and uninsured populations. Prior to joining the foundation, he was the Owner and Lead Consultant for Common-Unity Philanthropic and Nonprofit Advisors.
Antony Chiang is Chief Executive Officer of Dogwood Health Trust, which invests to improve the health and well-being of all people and communities in Western North Carolina. Prior to joining the Trust, he served as President of Empire Health Foundation.
Jill Nowak is Chief Financial and Administrative Officer of Missouri Foundation for Health, which improves the health of Missourians through partnership, experience, knowledge, and funding. Prior to joining the foundation, she worked with the American Association of Orthodontists.
Patrick Simpson is Director of Food, Health and Well-Being at W.K. Kellogg Foundation, among the largest philanthropic foundations in the United States, which works with communities to create conditions for vulnerable children so they can realize their full potential in school, work, and life. Prior to joining the foundation, he served as the Executive Director of CityMatCH – University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
Michelle Larkin of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and Elizabeth Ripley of Mat-Su Health Foundation have been reappointed to second three-year terms.
Additionally, the GIH board elected officers whose terms also begin in March 2020. Gil Alvarado of Sierra Health Foundation will serve as Treasurer and Elena Marks of Episcopal Health Foundation will serve as Secretary. Ned Calonge of The Colorado Trust will continue to serve as Chair, Michelle Larkin of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation will continue to serve as Vice Chair, and Patricia Mathews of the Northern Virginia Health Foundation will continue to serve as Member-at-Large.
Patricia Baker of Connecticut Health Foundation, Patricia Doykos of Bristol-Myers Squibb Foundation, and Scott Moyer of The Jacob and Valeria Langeloth Foundation complete their board terms in March 2020.
