WASHINGTON, DC, December 14, 2023—Grantmakers In Health (GIH) is pleased to announce the elections of Lori A. Cox, Vice President of Programs at The California Wellness Foundation, and Kristy Klein Davis, President of the Georgia Health Initiative, to its Board of Directors.
“We are honored to welcome Lori and Kristy to the GIH board,” said Cara V. James, GIH President and CEO. “They bring extensive experience from health philanthropy and other sectors, and I look forward to hearing their unique perspectives and working with them to advance GIH’s mission.”
“Lori and Kristy bring a wealth of health and foundation expertise to Grantmakers in Health, and we are so excited to have them join the board,” said Dr. Laura Gerald, GIH Board Chair and president of the Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust. “We thank them for their time and commitment to the GIH board and to the philanthropic field working to improve health outcomes for all residents.”
For over 30 years, Lori A. Cox has worked on behalf of communities, individuals, families, and at-risk children. Before joining The California Wellness Foundation in 2022, Cox was employed for more than 25 years at the Alameda County Social Services Agency, where she most recently served as Director of the agency, overseeing critical safety-net programs such as Child Welfare, Adult Protection, Cal Fresh (formerly food stamps), In Home Supportive Services (IHSS), Medi-Cal eligibility, and other cash aid programs.
Kristy Klein Davis recently led the Georgia Health Initiative—formerly named Healthcare Georgia Foundation—through an ambitious rebranding and evolution of its work ensuring that all Georgians can achieve their fullest potential for health. Previously, she served for 11 years at Missouri Foundation for Health, most recently as Chief Strategy Officer, where she drove the evolution of the foundation from a traditional grantmaker to a systems change institution.
GIH board members serve three-year terms, with the possibility of renewal for a second consecutive term. They represent the field’s diversity across a variety of dimensions, including gender, geographic location, life experience, organization size and type, professional skills, and race and ethnicity.
