Over time, The Rockefeller Foundation has become very intentional about catalyzing or supporting innovation where and when it is appropriate. It has worked with or funded many thought-leaders and exemplar practitioners, learning from a range of folks including academics (e.g. Christian Seelos, Jaideep Prabhu, Frances Westley), consultancies (Ideas42, Amplify, Doblin), innovation accelerators, and labs (Sustainable Food Lab, Unreasonable, emcArts).
After receiving many inquiries about The Rockefeller Foundation’s work to integrate innovation into its major funding initiatives, it put together this resource on ways to source innovation. Though it is still in draft form, the foundation has begun sharing it with others. The website is innovationguide.org.
Though the case studies are proving most useful, early feedback indicates that too many of the foundation’s rely on international examples. If anyone has case studies to offer that demonstrate a foundation’s use of any of the listed methods, share them along with any feedback or comments.
