Xiomara Arroyo, Ana Gomez Chapman, and Chris Howard

San Diego Foundation

San Diego Foundation (SDF) appointed three prominent community leaders to its board of governors: Xiomara Arroyo, Senior Vice President and Market Leader at PNC Bank; Ana Gomez Chapman, Founder & CEO of Muzo Capital Partners; and Chris Howard, President & CEO of Sharp HealthCare. Led by newly elected San Diego Foundation Board Chair Mel Katz, the appointments reflect SDF’s commitment to bringing diverse perspectives and expertise to its governance. The new board members began their three-year terms on July 1, 2025 and will help guide SDF’s strategic plan and initiatives.

Ms. Arroyo leads PNC Bank’s Organizational Financial Wellness business across Southern California, bringing nearly 20 years of experience in financial services. She joined PNC after 16 years at Wells Fargo, where she advanced from Teller to Vice President and Foundation Manager.

Raised in North County San Diego, California, Ms. Arroyo’s early experiences shaped her passion for financial literacy and economic empowerment. She is a dedicated community leader, having served as Chairwoman of San Diego Habitat for Humanity and on the President’s Advisory Council at CSUSM. Her work has earned her numerous honors, including the NAACP Distinguished Woman of Color Award and recognition as a San Diego Woman of the Year finalist by San Diego Magazine.

Ms. Chapman is a seasoned financial services executive and investor with more than three decades of global experience in investment management, capital markets, and business leadership. She has held senior roles at firms including Hamilton Lane, Allianz Global Investors, and JHL Capital Group, and began her career at Smith Barney, Goldman Sachs, and Coghill Capital Management.

Ms. Chapman currently leads Muzo Capital Partners, a financial services firm that collaborates with companies and investors to identify and capitalize on unique market opportunities. She has served on several corporate and advisory boards, including Lake Resources, MP Materials and Backstop Solutions Group. A first-generation U.S. citizen born in Colombia, Ms. Chapman is deeply committed to education and social inclusion. She serves on multiple Cornell University advisory boards and the Investment Committee of San Diego Foundation.

Mr. Howard is President and CEO of Sharp HealthCare, leading a workforce of more than 19,000 employees and 2,700 physicians. With more than 30 years in health care leadership, he has extensive experience in integrated care systems, hospital operations, and health plan partnerships. Prior to Sharp, he served as COO of SSM Health, overseeing operations across four states.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Howard held leadership roles in medical group management and clinically integrated networks, with a focus on risk-based insurance and health plan development. His strategic oversight has consistently driven improvements in clinical quality, safety, and service delivery. Mr. Howard currently serves as Board Chair of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce and was the 2024 Chair of the San Diego Heart and Stroke Walk.

A great nephew of founders Algur H. and Virginia Meadows, Mr. Meadows brings a seasoned background in business, finance, and community leadership to the foundation. In his new role, he will oversee its operations as it continues its 77-year mission to improve the quality of life for all Texans.

Mr. Meadows is a seasoned real estate and property professional and currently a Partner at Phelan Investments in Beaumont, Texas. He is also the founder and manager of PM Management, a property management company, and founder and president of PM7 Construction, a general contracting firm that specializes in disaster recovery, having developed a network of contractors to support communities following major hurricanes. Dan Winslow

The New Hanover Community Endowment

The New Hanover Community Endowment (The Endowment) announced CEO and President Dan Winslow will step down to “focus on personal priorities” and the board of directors has appointed Sophie Dagenais to handle daily operations. Ms. Dagenais began as Vice President of Programs and Grants at the beginning of 2025.

Mr. Winslow started work at The Endowment at the beginning of October. At the end of 2024, Winslow shared his vision for organization, calling it “philanthropy plus which included the “grants rainbow” – a tiered system of grants, ranging from smaller $5,000 awards to larger, multi-year, multi-million dollar projects – and also a plan to turn The Endowment into a research hub, commissioning studies that would later become grant opportunities in New Hanover County, North Carolina. He also unveiled a “road map” for The Endowment’s future – a set of grant focus areas, each tied to a specific age bracket. The roadmap was intended to be The Endowment’s “laser focus” for the next five years.

The board has not released plans to find a long-term replacement for Mr. Winslow.
