St. David’s Foundation
St. David’s Foundation announced Dr. Carlos Diaz, DDS, as the new Dental Clinical Director for the St. David’s Foundation Dental Program. He began his role on August 3, 2026, leading one of the largest mobile charity dental programs in the country.
As Dental Clinical Director, Dr. Diaz will provide leadership for the Dental Program, managing the clinical team, establishing and maintaining standards of care, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory and professional requirements.
Serving more than 5,500 students each year, the Dental Program brings free, high-quality dental care directly to elementary schools and community sites across Bastrop, Caldwell, Hays, Travis, and Williamson counties. Through a fleet of 10 mobile dental clinics and a dedicated team of dental professionals, the program helps remove barriers to care while promoting lifelong oral health.
Dr. Diaz brings more than 20 years of clinical and leadership experience, along with a deep commitment to expanding access to care for underserved communities. He joins the foundation from People’s Community Clinic, a long-standing foundation grantee and partner, where he has served as Director of Dental Services for the past seven years. In that role, he led the growth and evolution of the clinic’s dental program, helping to expand services. Previously, he served as Dental Director at Gateway Community Health Center in Laredo, Texas, and practiced as a general dentist serving communities in El Salvador, where he grew up. In El Salvador, he had the opportunity to provide dental care to children with cerebral palsy at a nonprofit clinic, many of whom faced significant barriers to accessing care. That experience helped shape Dr. Diaz’s commitment to serving children and other underserved populations.
Deborah Fournier
New Hampshire Children’s Health Foundation
The New Hampshire Children’s Health Foundation has named Deborah H. Fournier, JD, as its new Program Officer, Strategy & Collective Impact. In this role, Ms. Fournier will help advance the foundation’s strategic priorities by fostering cross-sector partnerships, supporting community and statewide initiatives, and helping develop innovative approaches to improving the health and well-being of New Hampshire’s children and families. She will work closely with funded partners, community leaders, policymakers, and other stakeholders to strengthen collective efforts that address the root causes of health inequities and improve outcomes for children across the state.
Ms. Fournier has more than 20 years of experience in health policy, Medicaid, public health, and health care financing. Her career has included senior leadership positions with the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials and the National Academy for State Health Policy, as well as leadership roles in two state Medicaid programs, culminating in her service as New Hampshire’s Medicaid Director.
Most recently, Ms. Fournier served as Director of Health Law & Policy at the University of New Hampshire’s Institute for Health Policy & Practice, where she led work focused on health care affordability and sustainable financing strategies for health care and public health services.
Jon Gentry, Emily Bertsche, and John Barker
The Kresge Foundation
The Kresge Foundation has announced a suite of leadership transitions within its Investment Office. Pending approval by the Kresge Board of Trustees next month, Jon D. Gentry will assume the role of Vice President and Chief Investment Officer (CIO), and Emily Bertsche will be promoted to deputy CIO. A 21-year veteran of the foundation, Mr. Gentry, with Ms. Bertsche, will oversee the foundation’s $4.2 billion endowment. Mr. Gentry replaces John A. Barker, who is departing the foundation to pursue a new opportunity in his hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.Mr. Gentry brings more than 20 years of experience at Kresge to his new role, having joined the foundation in 2005 to build out an internal investment office. As a Managing Director, he has played a central role in the evolution of Kresge’s investment strategy and portfolio management. During Mr. Gentry’s tenure, Kresge’s endowment has produced gains of more than $4.7 billion, fueling the foundation with the capital required to support its grantmaking and social investment efforts to expand opportunities in America’s cities. During this same period, Kresge’s endowment has increased 7.5 percent to $4.1 billion as of December 31, 2025.
The foundation also announced that Ms. Bertsche will be promoted to Deputy Chief Investment Officer. Since joining Kresge in 2024, Ms. Bertsche has worked across the foundation’s private and public investment portfolios. Prior to Kresge, she was director of growth assets for the UAW Retiree Medical Benefits Trust where she oversaw private and public equity investments for the nation’s largest non-governmental purchaser of health care benefits.
John Barker has served as a Senior Investment Office leader since joining Kresge in 2007 and held the role of Vice President and CIO in 2022. During his tenure at Kresge, he championed efforts to expand diversity, equity and inclusion within the Investment Office, throughout the investment management industry and among firms managing capital on Kresge’s behalf.
Courtney Pelley
The Health Foundation of Central Massachusetts
The Health Foundation of Central Massachusetts has appointed Courtney Pelley as the organization’s first Director of Strategic Initiatives. In this role, Ms. Pelley will support the foundation’s advocacy, capacity building, communications, and community engagement activities, building on The Health Foundation’s position as a trusted leader on issues affecting the health and wellbeing of Central Massachusetts residents.
Ms. Pelley previously served as Senior Vice President of External Affairs at the Edward M. Kennedy Community Health Center, where she supported board governance and led strategic partnerships, government relations, and advocacy efforts. She served as an administrative fellow in the Mass General Brigham system, where she worked closely with the Center for Community Health and Health Equity at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and is a Teach For America alumna.
Ms. Pelley earned a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience from Wellesley College and a master’s degree in interpreting and translation studies, with a focus in intercultural services in health care, from Wake Forest University. She received Worcester Academy’s Young Alumni Award in 2019 and was named to the Worcester Business Journal’s 40 Under Forty in 2018.
