Participants Joined us for this special virtual series and uncovered how we could collectively move towards an inclusive approach to health philanthropy. The leader of the field and participants who joined the webinar explored learning about the challenges in health philanthropy and social justice. They addressed power dynamics and foster authentic community engagement in their initiatives.

The four-part virtual learning series was hosted by Partners for Advancing Health Equity (P4HE Collaborative), a research learning collaborative, and Grantmakers In Health, a nonprofit, nonpartisan, educational organization dedicated to helping foundations and corporate giving programs improve the health of all people.

Throughout the workshop series, we delved into the topic of trust-based philanthropy and examined internal and external factors that influenced how communities and health philanthropy collaborated with each other. The workshop series provided actionable steps that health philanthropy could take to meaningfully involve communities and share power more effectively. Community engagement wasn’t just about checking boxes—it was about fostering real, authentic partnerships that could drive lasting change.

Presenters for Workshop 3:

During our third workshop, Brenda Sharpe, CEO of REACH Healthcare Foundation, and Damon Daniel, President at AdHoc Group Against Crime (also a community partner of REACH), discussed specific actions for health philanthropy to authentically engage communities and share power.
