The U.S. Congress is considering sweeping cuts to Medicaid—cuts that will leave many of the most vulnerable Americans without lifesaving health care.
Medicaid covers more than 90-million low-income people, including about 39 percent of all children in the United States and 59 percent of all nonelderly individuals with income below the federal poverty level. Dramatic reductions in Medicaid coverage will have catastrophic consequences, including hospital closures in the most underserved communities. But we still have time to make a difference. A new issue brief from Grantmakers In Health (GIH) and Leavitt Partners offers a detailed look at what these cuts will mean for the country.

Families USA, along with Community Catalyst, the National Health Law Program, Service Employees International Union, and hundreds of national and state partners told Congress to leave Medicaid alone.
