Archstone Foundation’s new report, “Starting, Supporting, Sustaining: An Archstone Foundation Legacy Report on Palliative Care 1989-2021,” documents more than 30 years of grantmaking and efforts to build the field of palliative care.
Improving the care and experience of people with serious illness has been a major focus of the foundation since 1989. Between then and 2021, Archstone Foundation has invested more than $16 million in palliative care and end-of-life initiatives. While most of the grants went to organizations in California, a number supported projects with national reach. Many of the initiatives continue to benefit people with serious illness today, sustaining and building on the professional and educational structures that make better care possible.
