GIH Announces New Board Members

Washington, DC — Grantmakers In Health (GIH) is pleased to announce the addition of David Fukuzawa, Robert Hughes, Peter Long, Joseph Rosier, and Dolores Roybal to its board of directors. Their board terms begin immediately after the 2013 GIH annual meeting, March 13-15 in San Francisco, California.
David Fukuzawa is program director for health at The Kresge Foundation in Troy, Michigan. He launched Kresge's Health Program and has been instrumental in positioning the foundation at the forefront of programs related to the social determinants of health, the environment and health, and housing and health.
Bob Hughes, president and CEO of the Missouri Foundation for Health, has nearly 30 years of philanthropic leadership, public health, and health policy experience. Previously Dr. Hughes was a visiting research professor at the Center for State Health Policy at Rutgers University and served as vice president and chief learning officer at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF).
Peter Long is president and CEO of the Blue Shield of California Foundation. He held leadership positions at The Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation and The California Endowment, and has extensive experience working on health policy issues at the state, national, and global levels. Dr. Long formerly served as executive director of the Indian Health Center of Santa Clara Valley.
Joe Rosier is president and CEO of The Rapides Foundation, based in Alexandria, Louisiana. Previously he was executive director and treasurer of the Louisiana Baptist Foundation. Mr. Rosier currently serves as chairman of the Region VI Healthcare Consortium and as a consultant for RWJF's Southern Rural Access Program.
Dolores Roybal is executive director of Con Alma Health Foundation in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She has been active in philanthropy and the nonprofit sector for over 25 years and currently serves as chair of the New Mexico Association of Grantmakers. Prior to joining Con Alma, Ms. Roybal was executive director of Women's Health Services in Santa Fe.
The GIH board also elected new officers for 2013-2014. Billie Hall of the Sunflower Foundation will serve as chair, Fatima Angeles of The California Wellness Foundation will serve as vice chair, and Sarah Iselin of the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Foundation will serve as secretary. Chet Hewitt of the Sierra Health Foundation will continue service as treasurer. Also reappointed to the board were Anne Warhover of The Colorado Health Foundation and Wendy Wolf of the Maine Health Access Foundation. David Gould of the United Hospital Fund, Sam Karp of the California HealthCare Foundation, and Diane Rowland of The Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation will complete their board terms in March.
