Dr. Omar H. Ali; Reverend Chesley “Ches” A. Kennedy, III; Dr. Sendil Krishnan; and Robert Pompey, Jr.
Cone Health Foundation has added four new board of directors members who will each serve a three-year term. The new members are Dr. Omar H. Ali; Reverend Chesley “Ches” A. Kennedy, III; Dr. Sendil Krishnan; and Robert Pompey, Jr.
Dr. Ali is Interim Dean of Lloyd International Honors College and Professor of Comparative African Diaspora History at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. The author of four books, Dr. Ali has been a Fulbright professor of history and anthropology at Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Bogotá, a visiting professor of African American and Diaspora Studies at Vanderbilt University, and a Library Scholar at the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies at Harvard University. He codirects a community-based project called Community Play!/All Stars—a series of free cultural events, classes, and workshops that promote learning and development through performance, improvisation, and play.
Rev. Kennedy is Pastor of Emerging Ministries at Congregational United Church of Christ and Director of Development for the University of North Carolina at Greensboro’s College of Arts and Sciences. Rev. Kennedy serves on the board of directors for Partners Ending Homelessness, Alcohol and Drug Services, and Greensboro Symphony Orchestra. He has served on the boards of Friends for an Earlier Breast Cancer Test, National Conference for Community and Justice, and Guilford Green Foundation.
Dr. Krishnan is Executive Medical Director of Triad Hospitalists. He serves as a Founding Member of Triad Healthcare Network (an Accountable Care Organization), a member of the Executive Council of Cone Health Medical Group, and is a member of Moses Cone Hospital President’s Physician Cabinet along with chairing Cone Health Medical Group’s Communications Committee.
Mr. Pompey serves as Vice Chancellor for Business and Finance at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, where he is responsible for the development, administration, and supervision of the fiscal affairs of the University. Prior to this role, Mr. Pompey worked at Wake Forest University for nine years. Mr. Pompey is a Certified Public Accountant and is a member of the National Association of Certified Public Accountants.
Cone Health Foundation also elected the following board officers:

Lisa M. Fasolo Frishman
Lisa M. Fasolo Frishman will join the Health Foundation for Western and Central New York as a Senior Program Officer in its Syracuse office. In her new role, Ms. Fasolo Frishman will head up the foundation’s work in community health capacity and policy. She replaces Kara Williams, the foundation’s Interim Vice President of Programs, who became the Director of Strategic Initiatives at the Allyn Foundation.
Ms. Fasolo Frishman comes from the New York Funders Alliance, where she has served as Executive Director since 2014. During her time at the Funders Alliance, she was responsible for strategic planning, program development and delivery, resource development, membership education, marketing, and communications. She currently serves on the Community Impact Committee of the United Way of Central New York; is the Development Committee Chair of the YMCA of Rochester, Camp Cory Branch; and is the vice chair of the Women’s Fund of Central New York.
Linda Mayes, Galo Rodriguez, and James Shmerling
The Children’s Fund of Connecticut has appointed three new members to their board of directors, Linda Mayes, Director, Yale Child Study Center; Galo Rodriguez, President and CEO, The Village for Families & Children; and James Shmerling, President and CEO, Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.
Richmond Memorial Health Foundation (RMHF) announced that it has hired Christina Nuckols as Director of Community Relations as part of its plan to engage the community in its work, build partnerships, strengthen communications, and share research to support its work on equity and health. After a 23-year career working for newspapers across Virginia, Ms. Nuckols entered state government and served most recently as Deputy Communications Director to Governor Terry McAuliffe. She has been an advocate for equity in health for many years as an editorial page editor, editorial writer, and a communications professional. She previously served as Communications Coordinator for Secretary of Health and Human Resources Dr. William Hazel.

Monique Saunders Patrick
The CDC Foundation has named Monique Saunders Patrick as Chief Operating Officer. In this role Ms. Patrick will report to the President and CEO and have responsibility for the foundation’s finance, human resources, legal, and information technology functions and will serve on its executive team.
Ms. Patrick brings more than 25 years of experience in finance, operations, and administration management. She most recently served as the Chief Finance and Administrative Officer for the Points of Light Foundation. Prior to this experience, she served as Managing Director of Finance and Operations at the American Cancer Society and management roles at other organizations.
She currently serves as a board member for the Elaine Clark Center in Atlanta, Georgia. Previously she served as a board member and vice chair of ROOTS Adoption Agency and participated in the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta.

Mary Piepenbring and Linwood B. Hollowell, III
Mary L. Piepenbring, Vice President of The Duke Endowment and Director of the Health Care program area, will retire at the end of 2016.
Ms. Piepenbring joined the Endowment in 2000 after seven years at Carolinas HealthCare System as Vice President in Administration. In addition to leading the Health Care program area, she has overseen the Endowment’s Evaluation Department. She was named Vice President in 2009.
Ms. Piepenbring has played a major role in health care and philanthropy, serving as a Commissioner of the North Carolina Medical Care Commission, a board member of the North Carolina Quality Center and the South Carolina Office of Rural Health, and an inaugural member of the Leadership Team for the Alliance for a Healthier South Carolina. She was appointed to serve on the South Carolina Medical Education Advisory Committee, and serves on the editorial board of the North Carolina Medical Journal.
Her many honors include the Ronald H. Levine Legacy Award for contributions to Public Health in North Carolina, the North Carolina Hospital Association Meritorious Service Award, and the American College of Healthcare Executives Regent’s Award.
Linwood B. Hollowell, III has been named Ms. Piepenbring’s successor as Health Care Director. Mr. Hollowell joined the Endowment in 2001 after working in hospital administration with the Greenville Hospital System in Greenville, South Carolina. At the Endowment, he has coordinated funding initiatives supporting a range of issues, including mental health, emergency medical services, and access to care for the uninsured.

Jennifer Vanore, Ph.D.
UniHealth Foundation appointed Jennifer Vanore, Ph.D., to the newly created position of Vice President of Programs. Dr. Vanore will be responsible for overseeing grant activities and working closely with senior management to develop and implement program strategies in her new role. Dr. Vanore joined UniHealth Foundation in 2015 as Senior Program Officer responsible for assessing and overseeing more than $14 million in UniHealth grants in Los Angeles and Orange counties. Prior to her joining UniHealth, Dr. Vanore spent three years at The California Endowment.
Frances M. Sheehan
The Board of Directors of the Crozer-Keystone Community Foundation today announced that Frances M. Sheehan has been named as the organization’s first President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Ms. Sheehan will assume her position effective January 2, 2017. As President and CEO, Ms. Sheehan will guide the activities of the new, independent foundation dedicated to the health, education, and social needs of the people of Delaware County, Pennsylvania. She will provide executive leadership as the Crozer-Keystone Community Foundation determines its areas of concentration while it continues to support many of the programs made possible by predecessor foundations allied with Crozer Chester Medical Center and Delaware County Memorial Hospital.
Ms. Sheehan comes to the Crozer-Keystone Community Foundation from the Brandywine Health Foundation, where she was also the founding executive leader. There she directed safety net health providers and youth agencies serving western Chester County, raising and distributing more than $15 million to aid in the transformation of some of Pennsylvania’s poorest communities.
