WASHINGTON, DC– Grantmakers In Health (GIH) is pleased to announce that Ned Calonge, Nichole Maher, Elena Marks, Patricia Mathews, Donald Moulds, and David Rousseau have been elected to its board of directors. Their terms begin immediately after the GIH Annual Conference on Health Philanthropy in March.
Ned Calonge is President and CEO of The Colorado Trust, a health foundation dedicated to ending inequalities that affect racial, ethnic, low-income, and other vulnerable populations. Prior to joining the trust, Dr. Calonge served as Chief Medical Officer of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.
Nichole Maher is President and CEO of Northwest Health Foundation, which seeks to advance, support, and promote health in Oregon and southwest Washington. Previously, Ms. Maher served as Executive Director of the Native American Youth and Family Center (NAYA) in Portland, Oregon.
Elena Marks is President and CEO of the Episcopal Health Foundation, which works to improve the health and well-being of the 10 million people in the Episcopal Diocese of Texas. Ms. Marks previously served as the Director of Health and Environmental Policy for the City of Houston.
Patricia Mathews is President and CEO of the Northern Virginia Health Foundation, which is dedicated to improving the health and health care of residents of Northern Virginia, with a particular emphasis on the health needs of the uninsured. Prior to joining the foundation, Ms. Mathews served as Executive Director, Community Relations at Kaiser Permanente-Mid-Atlantic States.
Donald Moulds is Executive Vice President for Programs at The Commonwealth Fund, a private foundation that aims to promote a high performing health care system. Prior to joining the fund, Dr. Moulds was Acting Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, where he served as principal policy advisor to Secretary Kathleen Sebelius.
David Rousseau is Vice President and Executive Director of Health Policy Media and Technology at the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation, which is dedicated to filling the need for trusted information on national health issues. He oversees the foundation’s health policy media programs, including Kaiser Health News and all journalism programs, and directs the foundation’s technology and online activities. Previously, Mr. Rousseau was Director of the foundation’s statehealthfacts.org project and was an Associate Director of the Kaiser Commission on Medicaid and the Uninsured.
Additionally, the GIH board elected officers whose terms also begin after the annual conference. Robin Mockenhaupt of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation will continue to serve as Chair, and Jandel Allen-Davis of Kaiser Permanente Colorado will serve as Vice Chair. Joseph Rosier, Jr. of The Rapides Foundation will serve as Treasurer, David Fukuzawa of The Kresge Foundation will continue as Secretary, and Peter Long of the Blue Shield of California Foundation will continue as Member-at-Large.
Reappointed to their second three-year board terms are David Fukuzawa of The Kresge Foundation, Robert Hughes of Missouri Foundation for Health, Peter Long of Blue Shield of California Foundation, and Joseph Rosier, Jr. of The Rapides Foundation.
Billie Hall of Sunflower Foundation: Health Care for Kansans, Chet Hewitt of Sierra Health Foundation, Dolores Roybal of Con Alma Health Foundation, and Wendy Wolf of Maine Health Access Foundation complete their board terms in March 2016.
