The Consumer Health Foundation (CHF) released a briefing paper on “Immigration Status as a Social Determinant of Health.” The vision statement in CHF’s 2014-2016 strategic plan included “immigration status” as one of the identities or factors around which barriers are often created that limit people’s ability to live a healthy and dignified life. CHF and its partners are presenting a series of briefing papers to explore this concept as it relates to health, hunger and poverty, and workers’ issues.
The first briefing paper which focuses on health was produced in partnership with La Clinica del Pueblo, a federally qualified health center in DC and suburban Maryland.
