The Mary Black Foundation considers grantmaking to be an investment in Spartanburg, South Carolina that will contribute to improved health, wellness, and success. Therefore, it seeks to invest in strong, well-run organizations that are clear about what results they will achieve and how the results will be measured. This grant cycle, Mary Black Foundation will be prioritizing grant requests in the following areas:
- The majority of people served reside in the foundation’s priority zip codes: 29301, 29303, 29306, 29330, or 29372.
- The proposal seeks to address growing mental health needs, especially among people of color, children, and adolescents.
- The proposal seeks to improve the health of youth through increased access to out of school time programming, especially for young people of color.
- The proposal works to close the gap on educational disparities, especially among preschool children and those who have fallen behind due to virtual and hybrid learning in 2019 and 2020.
All applications must be received by June 15, 2021, no later than 5:00 p.m. If the application deadline falls on a weekend or holiday, the application will be accepted on the next business day by 5:00 p.m. Applicants will be notified of receipt of the application via email.
