The 2026 Grantmakers In Health (GIH) Annual Conference on Health Philanthropy, will be held on June 8 12 in Baltimore, MD, at the Hilton Baltimore Inner Harbor.

Every year, GIH brings together the bright minds, seasoned experts, and innovative practitioners working in health philanthropy to discuss the important issues facing the field. The theme this year is:

Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Health

Two hundred and fifty years ago America’s founders came together to say the current system of government was not working for them. This act sparked the birth of a new nation founded on principles of freedom, equality, and democracy. The document they signed clearly articulates the founders’ belief in the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Health—and the ability to lead a healthy and productive life—is deeply intertwined with these ideals.

Today, cuts to critical health and social programs; attacks on freedom of speech; threats to non-profit organizations; and federal overreach threaten our fundamental freedoms as well as our health and well-being. The 250th anniversary of the nation’s founding is an ideal backdrop for us to come together and craft a vision for health that works for everyone.

Call for Proposals

The 2026 GIH annual conference is an important opportunity for the field of heath philanthropy to collectively explore new ideas and innovative partnerships designed to advance health and equity. GIH is looking for action-oriented session proposals that explore how funders are:

  • Responding to the changing political landscape, including shifts in policy, funding cuts, and agency restructuring;
  • Supporting the fundamental freedoms and principles on which our country was founded;
  • Advancing policy, including legal advocacy;
  • Supporting communications and narrative change work;
  • Improving and reimagining our health system;
  • Empowering communities and fostering collaboration with other funders and across sectors;
  • Responding to attacks on health equity and diversity, equity, and inclusion;
  • Defending against threats to philanthropic giving; and that
  • Showcase innovative work in Baltimore, the state of Maryland, and Washington, DC.
